Life's Weight and Wonder

Updated: Aug 17

The way forward is to search for pockets of joy and choosing peace every day.
The way forward is to search for pockets of joy and choosing peace every day.

This week has been a whirlwind.

Back-to-school rhythms, welcoming a new baby into the extended family, transitions within my team, hot flashes returned and a short visit from “grief.”

And yet, life keeps dropping both weight and wonder.

  • In the marketplace, there’s an undercurrent of instability, anxiousness and perilous addiction to solve problems that are more symptoms than root cause.

  • I see the pervasive need for “deep work” in organizations keeps showing up.

  • Car line at my son's school needs help, badly.

  • Groceries are expensive. I’m now growing my own bananas.

As I see it, the way forward is to search for pockets of joy and choosing peace every day.

Spotify introduced me to Sweet Soul Chillout (if you love the Bee Gees or Earth, Wind & Fire, you’ll love it too). It’s great background music while I work.

I was inspired by talent showcased on the Netflix series Building the Band — 3Quency is everything! These ladies are channeling greatness in the likes of Fantasia, Tina Marie and Selena.

One of my dearest childhood friends reached out for a heart check. Funny how you can be 16 and 50-something at the sime time. Giggles are pure magic.

I also returned to regular studio workouts. I don't care what the scale says, I feel a sense of accomplishment every single time.

Y'all some days the air feels thick and other days, light as a feather.

When I apply the wonder of "I get to", gratitude fills my well and I can face another day.

I get to support the most amazing executives, walking with them as they prioritize relationality in an anxious and overly-stimulated world.
I get to witness family systems lean into restorative work that disrupts cycles of harm and reshapes legacy.
I get to watch my son level up in new spaces, testing his courage and shining his light.

And—because gratitude doesn’t mean complacency—I’m also working on a new piece of content that's going to rattle some cages in 2026.

I can't wait to tell you all about it!

Love,

ree
