How Do You Boost Resilience Within Your Work Team?

Let’s start with this truth: resilience begins with self.
Resilience isn’t about bouncing back from just one big event—it’s about navigating the setbacks, failures, and disruptions that come with life and work. It’s not a pill we can take; it’s more like a set of muscles we get to exercise over and over again. The more we use them, the stronger they get.
Here are three simple but powerful practices you can bring into your workplace (and your own life):
1. Acknowledge and name it.
When we acknowledge where we’ve fallen short—or simply name the pain point—we loosen the grip it has on us. Identifying what we’re experiencing and naming the emotions that come with it opens the door to recovery and perspective.
2. Give yourself permission to be human.
This one can feel tough. If, like me, you grew up believing you had to be perfect—or at least look perfect—you know how deeply ingrained that story can be. When I stumble and it hurts, I ask myself: “What would you tell your 5-year-old self if she went through this?” That question softens my inner critic and grows my self-compassion.
3. Reframe blame into opportunity.
Blame is an energy drain. When we get stuck in “who’s at fault,” we miss the chance to move forward. Instead of asking “What happened?” try “Where’s the opportunity here?”
The more we practice these steps, the better we get—and the stronger we become. And when leaders model this, teams learn to carry that same resilience forward.
If you’re ready to build a culture of resilience in your team or organization, let’s connect. The work starts here, and the ripple effects will carry far beyond the workplace.
